KK's 8th BIRTHday

So while we celebrated our sweet KK's 8th birthday a few weeks ago with her friends, she just officially turned EIGHT years old today (and yes, I am still capitalizing EIGHT and screaming it in disbelief in my mind).

I mean it cannot be EIGHT years since we had this little angel in our arms..

Ten tiny fingers, ten tiny toes... I just blinked and how I have

AN EIGHT YEAR OLD!

While I feel like this is a cruel joke, that time hasn't really passed that quickly, the absolute joy and love this little girl has blessed our lives with is anything but funny.  I don't know what I would do without her.  She is compassionate and kind, her heart on her sleeve for all to have.  She loves her brother and sister so completely, jumping in to help them and take care of them as a big sister always does.  She is sensitive but she stands up for her friends, even when it means walking away from the group to stand by just one friend.  She is so stinking smart, it blows us away constantly.  From her ability to soak in multiplication and division when her class is still focused on adding and subtracting, to the way she can sit and read for hours in her chapter books (and that is so me in her there, and I so love it)!  I could go on and on.  Our KK has a huge heart, an amazing spirit, a brilliant mind... we are so very proud of her and the little person she is becoming!  I can't wait to see what God will do with her :-)

So today we celebrate that beautiful gift from God as a family!

And what better way to show her how we love her than with presents, right?

Wait did you see that?

Flynn the Elf decided to join our festivities by adding himself as decorations and snatching one of our gifts...

He also decided to trap the birthday girl in her room with streamers!

So around 7am we woke the birthday girl up by singing the Happy Birthday song! She wasn't sure what was going on at first haha!

Especially when she had to duck out of the room to get to us!

But after a few minutes, she realized that Flynn had attached our birthday surprises with surprises of his own and she loved it!

Now we could make the birthday girl wait until after dinner to open her presents, but what fun would that be?

Baby Kins was not happy to be awake this early and for all the singing and noise... she is so not a morning person hehe!

Look at that!  Pink sparkle pants and a "K" shirt!  The birthday girl now has the appropriate clothes to wear to school today :-)

And she looks stunning!  and EIGHT!  sniff sniff

And she was so excited to get to school to enjoy her birthday!

I joined her at lunchtime with some Rosas and then helped her celebrate her birthday with her class with cupcakes and juice.  Her teacher does a fun thing where she helps the birthday kid orchestrate the class as they sing to her, take a look:

KK loved it!  I was giggling.

Her awesome teachers!

2nd graders are crazy - but they sure do love cupcakes!

After school was over, we were ready to do the family birthday party!  One of her best friends joined us to celebrate too.

Sweet sisters!

So the birthday girl wanted to go to Double Dave's Pizza for dinner!  All the other kids were very excited about her choice (while Daddy and I tried to hide our groans lol)!

Note to self: this kid just needs a big girl cup of water and she will think life is grand!

After the kids filled themselves up with pizza, dessert pizza, soda and more dessert pizza, it was time to eat CAKE!

We got KK a cookie cake, her favorite!

A crown for our princess

We sang her "Happy Birthday" one last time today, and she worked to get those EIGHT candles blown out.  We told her to practice or she won't make it next year with nine (crap did I just say nine... let's forget that happened)!

It was yummy!

Next up was presents!
Justice PJ's - KK's favorite things :-)  And Aunt Liz will love that they have cats on the knees haha!

We got her a pair of dangle earrings that glow in the dark... after hearing how badly she wanted dangling earrings.

AJ got her an outfit for a Barbie and Kins got her some little bow earrings.  Next was time for the big reveal... the gift from Mommy and Daddy! Dum Dum Daaaah...

A big girl mountain bike!  She was really wanting a bike as she has completely outgrown her last bike (and we were told many times since the summer that she did not want a bike with pom poms because those are for babies)...

She was surprised and loved it!

Quick hug for Daddy and me as she squealed her thanks!

She looks great with it :-)

So I would say it was a great BIRTHday for our EIGHT year old.  KK went to sleep, exhausted and smiling.  And that's when I feel like my job as Mom is done for the birthday.  She felt extra cherished, extra loved, extra happy.  All things you should feel as a kid having a birthday and every day.

Words escape me on just how special this girl is to us... mostly because I am exhausted from the late night prepping and the long day celebrating.  I'll take her happy smile she gave me as I kissed her goodnight tonight and end on that note.

Sweet dreams Y'all!
