For Our Daddy

So for Father's Day this year we decided to give Daddy exactly what he wanted: for us to spend no money on him on Father's Day.  Instead the big kids and I worked very hard on a sign to tell him exactly what we think about our Daddy:

See our Daddy is the best daddy ever...

He is great at wrestling stinky boys who need "guy time" and cuddling little princesses who want to watch High School Musical for the 100th time and waking up at 2am to give a little toot a bottle and a snuggle before tucking her back in.

He is the cool dad who listens to cool music and drives us to get slurpies or soda as a treat.

A Daddy who will lay on the floor and play with his baby girl each and every day.

A Daddy who will take us to the pool or the park and play with us whenever we ask.

The dad who helps clean up the yucky when someone's tummy is upset (because mommy definitely can't handle it).

The dad who searches stores to find just the perfect matchbox car to complete a collection and runs out to get diapers or milk at 11pm a night...

He is the dad who will work all day long, then come home to make us dinner while asking us about our day... the dad who knows how to tuck us in at night and help us brush our teeth.

The dad who loves coaching his little girl in soccer and watching football with little man.

The dad with the big shoulders to carry us when we are tired, the big arms that can lift just about anything and the big lap that can fit three wiggly munchkins at a time.

See God has given us, the best ever Daddy!
He is perfect for us... even if we can't manage to take the "perfect" picture for him.

And if you dare talk bad about our daddy, we will cry!

We love you babes!  Happy Father's Day!

Pool DAYZ

So when in Texas in June... you either melt or you go to the POOL!  As a swim family, we pick the pool every single time!

My loves!

Of course, sometimes we need a fun treat like a blue snow cone to help us beat the heat!

Baby Kins is all about the pool - love those little rolls. I could just eat her up!

Had to get me in a picture!  Mommy was here!

Blue smiles mean the day was a success!

Let the Summer BEGIN!

So it is official: IT IS THE FIRST DAY OF OUR SUMMER!  And what a day!

First we were visited by a little friend on our back porch.  You can see by AJ's face that he wasn't so sure if this was friend or foe...

As it started getting HOT down in TEJAS - AJ decided he was ready for a summer hair-do!

Before and After shots - now we are really ready for some summer fun!

While we were distracted by AJ's hair, someone found the DS she is not allowed to have and surprisingly she looks like she kind of know what she's doing!

KK started Swim Team - hour long practices four times a week, GO KK!  Blog coming soon after she has her first meet!

Of course, the best part of summer is spending time (and I pretty  much mean all our time) at our pools!  I say it in the plural as we have five of them all together.  You never get bored!

Peace, Love and Kindergarten really stuck with us from the school year as you can tell :-)

Kins first time in the pool - she looks unsure but really she was just soaking it all in

Kins was happy, as long as she had something to chew on as she sat on her throne in the pool.  She was the princess of the pool and we were her peoples... supplying her with plenty of toys.

After a fun first weekend, it was time for our other summer tradition:  MOVIE MONDAYS!
For 50 cents each we can attend a kid friendly movie at the movie theater, a cheap and fun time with popcorn and treats.

I know, going with a baby who isn't even one yet and two big kids sounds insane.  But actually my kids are amazing - shush don't tell them I told you that!

We stick together, get there early so we can park the stroller next to our seats down in front and we snack on popcorn/puffs while the movie starts.  And then my sweet little baby girl, who is AMAZING all by herself, will let me hold her and "rock" her to sleep in the movie theater while the movie starts up.  She usually manages to sleep until the last few moments of the movie.  Like I said A-MAZING.

I really am stinkin' blessed guys - they are pretty special kids!

More summer fun headed your way I am sure!
Sweet dreams Y'all!

Last Day of SCHOOL!

So the last day of school was upon us!  Our first year of Kindergarten for KK and our first year of Preschool for AJ.  Of course I had to take some pictures for some comparisons of our year:

KK 1st day & the last day of Kindergarten
You can't tell but she grew about five inches at least!
What does she want to be when she grows up?  A TEACHER!

AJ the first day and the last day of preschool
I'm not sure I have words for why his shirt was tucked in there...
What does AJ want to be when he grows up?  A NINJA TURTLE!

Not to be left out... here is baby Kins on the first day of school and on the last...
She was literally six pounds maybe in that first picture, and about 15 pounds on the last day of school.  My big girl!

We made sure to thank our teachers with presents, as well as some homemade cards to show how much we loved all their hard work during the year!

I think these kids are ready for some summer loving!  That means POOL TIME for our family.

Posts about that coming soon!

Kindergarten Graduation (aka let's make Mommy cry)

Let's start this post off focusing on our JOY!  Sweet KK did it, she made it through her first official year of school: Kindergarten!  This is what she did when I asked her how she felt about Kindergarten Graduation Day:

That is the look of pure JOY and EXCITEMENT!  She was ready to show us the songs they learned and then walk across the stage (at the high school, which was big time for her) and get her hard earned Kindergarten diploma!

And here is my firstborn... my first baby... our little princess.  We fell in love with her the moment she entered our lives.  And I can still picture that moment and the moments following like they just happened.  And nothing makes you feel how fast the past six years have gone by like Kindergarten graduation.  Like the whole year wasn't enough of a reminder of just how big she is getting, just how much she has grown.  Her first full day at a real big school... without me beside her. Full days of experiences and fun that I wasn't a part of, after five years of her and me together.

Maybe just maybe as first time Kindergarten parents, we should be celebrating too.  Because didn't we just survive?  Didn't we just learn?  Learn how to live with our babies having their own little life experiences... learn how to let go of them as they walk into the school by themselves with barely a wave back at us?

I mean, I want a diploma.  I want it to read: In recognition of learning how to let go of a piece of your heart and allowing it to roam free on its own after five years of loving and putting every piece of your life into said little piece of your heart, we congratulate Mommy for not losing it every single time she really wanted to over the last year.  I mean... it could fit on a piece of paper if you used small font.  Just saying...

So back to the reason for this post (I digress more and more these days)... My baby girl was ready to CELEBRATE!

But she was dressed to the nines, with her hair spirally curled (at her request so she was extra fancy, sadly she has my hair and humidity made those curls fall out) and her lip gloss on.  She was ready to pose for me and the camera before we went to her program.

Wow - she is so big!  And just beautiful, inside and out!  In the past year she has shown such a hunger for learning and a love for reading and art and math.  She has shown compassion for her classmates and made so many new friends.  She isn't the quietest girl in her class, but she isn't the loudest either.   She is not the girl who will chase boys on the playground (thank you Lord!), rather she has a special group of girls that are a lot like her: quiet, sweet, kind.  They play pretend, they do the monkey bars and they make sure to include anyone who wants to play with them.  She likes the rules and follows them exactly as requested.  She loves order and knowing how the day is going to go, but she also thinks it is awesome when something new pops up like a movie day or a special assembly.  Her teacher adored her this year and KK loved her back.  She is a little nerd sometimes like her parents, she gets a kick out of homework assignments (while I was inwardly cringing sometimes) and was reading chapter books like Junie B. Jones all by herself before the year was half over.  She is one smart, sweet little girl - we couldn't be prouder!

So her class worked really hard to get ready to put on a show for us parents!  They sang several songs from "Grease" but changed the words to make it about their bright futures and graduation.  In fact, their futures are so bright, they had to wear shades:

KK is in the middle of this picture in her shades!

Wow, there are all our kindergartners!

After some great songs and even a few fun moves, the kids were ready to walk the stage.  Each of their teachers had their diplomas ready, along with big hugs.

Standing with our glass waiting for our name

A big hug from our teacher!  WE DID IT!

So if that wasn't emotional enough with all the pictures and smiles... our principal decided to make it worse.  By worse I mean "make all the mommies in the audience cry".  Apparently at every graduation, he reads the book "I'll Love You Forever".  He even sings the little song that is on each page of the book:

I'll love you forever
I'll like you for always
As long as I'm living
My baby you'll be

I can neither confirm nor deny that I bawled my eyes out after this... sadly, any evidence of this non-blubbering might be found on our video of the entire experience. YikeS!

KK with her teacher afterwards

Best Friends Forever

AJ was so excited for KK - you can just see it... And no baby Kins did not take this picture. She was enjoying some quiet loving time with a dear friend so we could take in the ceremony with a wiggle pants...

There is our little graduate!

So like I like to do after any emotional upheaval... ahem, I mean monumental event: we decided to get some frozen yogurt to wrap up our celebration!

CONGRATS KK!  We can't wait to see that bright bright future you have before you!

Goodnight Y'all!
