So we have an Elf... he sits on a shelf...
KK and AJ named him Flynn, as the year Flynn arrived was the year we first saw Tangled. And every year since our December is filled with morning search parties to find out where Flynn might be and gleeful shouts when he is found.
And he is usually found being a silly little elf, with a little touch of trouble and a whole lotta fun.
He didn't disappoint this year, he arrived on December 1st and he was ready for some games...
Day 1: Messages in flour piles on my kitchen counter...
The found him after a few minutes... Reading a new Christmas book in the living room... a book I wasn't giving to the kids until Christmas.
and he is covered in flour from his message...
The kids were excited, a new book of stories and their friend was back to play!
Another morning we found him with our advent calendar, opening up doors we hadn't gotten to yet and eating the candy...
Look at those tiny teeth marks!
I guess one day KK, AJ and Kins were being naughty, because we woke up to underwear and diapers decorating our tree...
Flynn must have thought this was funny, but KK and AJ were mortified that their panties were on display. Maybe their lesson was learned?
I really wonder if we can skip the ornaments this year...
It must be hard work being an elf...
So sometimes you need to take a bath in a tub...
AJ thought this was HILARIOUS..
Another morning we searched high and low with no Flynn in sight... until we needed a drink of water.
Another morning we found Flynn in the trenches of a serious snowball fight
with another Elf decoration...
who was hiding behind a pile of hot chocolate kerig cups
He was still holding a snowball when we walked in!
The kids thought this was AWESOME!
And he even left a box of cookies for us to make today!
Another morning, after searching everywhere for Flynn, the kids got into the car for school upset.... only to look up and realize he wanted to take them to school today!
Kins woke up to Flynn reading her favorite bedtime story to all her stuff animals in her room.
Another morning he was especially sneaky... the kids didn't find him until almost bedtime!
We thought we had seen a lot of crazy things... until AJ woke up to Flynn, dressed up like Ninja Turtle ziplining through AJ's room having an EPIC battle with Shredder and the bad guys.
AJ swears he didn't hear a thing when he was sleeping...
I have to admit, Flynn might be the coolest elf at the North Pole
And he just gets cooler as the month went on. I guess after partying in AJ's room one night, Flynn felt like he had to party in KK's room the next. And party he did! With Barbie and a bottle of syrup (with two straws, yikes)!
This looks like a date...
They even had dinner together it looks like.
Kins thought this was greatness, she had to show me and Daddy how silly Flynn is..
Alas, Flynn wasn't done treating the kids to silly scenes...
a few nights later he was sailing into the living room in a homemade hot air balloon..
I had to give him credit for all the surprises we had over the month. But before we knew it, it was Christmas eve... and the last night we would get to see Flynn until next year. Flynn didn't disappoint in his goodbye to us. He found the Nativity scene that mommy hadn't put out yet and set it up right in the middle of the house for all to see.
With a gift for the kids and a candy cane note to let Kins, AJ and KK know just how much he loves them.
And a sweet gift from him, their first gift of Christmas.
Thankfully the excitement of Santa and presents and celebrating our Savior's birth with traditions and all makes them forget that the early morning fun with Flynn is over... for now.
Who knows what next year will hold...
Merry Christmas Y'all!
