Happy 7th Birthday KK!

Happy Birthday to our sweet SEVEN year old girl!

I cannot believe we have had this little girl for seven, count them, seven years!  And what a blessing and joy she is to our family - she was our first baby from first steps to the first one to read or ride a bike... She is the best big sister who loves and takes care of her brother and sister.  It was like God gave her to us knowing she would be the greatest big sister ever - always ready to lend a hand, let the little one get their way (though we try really hard to avoid that) and help entertain the littles.  Her heart is huge, always on her sleeve along with a big smile on her face.  A little dramatic flair in her attitude some days- I'll just pin that to the fact she is passionate and that is a gift if you focus it positively ;)  She has a knack for leadership, whether its needed or not, and isn't afraid to speak her mind (another firstborn gift I know well).  She's beautiful inside and out, what a blessing God's given our family in this girl!

Here she is waking up at 7am to us singing.  Having a birthday the week after Thanksgiving is rough, especially if it falls on the first day back to school.  So we tried to make it as special as we could.  We started a few traditions when Kaitlyn had her 1st birthday and we have kept them going (even when it means mom and dad are always up late working on those traditions)!

First: balloons covering the floor of their room.  Good thing we have a lot of hot air between me and Daddy.

Second: the kitchen decorated in streamers and balloons, with the gifts and cake taking center stage.

Now in order to ensure her day started right, after singing came a special gift from AJ!  He just couldn't wait until evening ;). He picked it out all by himself: triple colored neon nail polish.  He did great!

Then came the one gift Mommy and Daddy gave her: a special
Sparkly birthday outfit!

As you can see she loved it!

Baby Kins graced us with her presence before we left for school (she rarely does early mornings unless its Saturday or Sunday the stinker)... She thought the balloons were neat!

Happy Birthday big sissy!

And here is another tradition: me getting a picture of the birthday girl by the balloons.  This tradition might be ending as she's getting long legs like her daddy. Stop growing on me little girl!

Happy 7th Birthday!!!  Ready for school in our fancy clothes.

Here is my girl at lunch.  I left work early to bring her Rosas and have some alone time just the two of us.  And usually that means its selfie picture time!!!

Gotta have a duck face picture!

Well after lunch I brought her class cookie cake to share.  It was sweet, they all waited rather patiently (for 7 year olds) for a piece of cake then sang to her.  The rule is she needs to eat a bite before they can, so they were chanting "eat your cake" immediately lol!

Love our teacher!  They decorated her desk and everyone made her a birthday card during class that morning.  KK was in heaven!

The first bite if cake was followed by cheers before the eating frenzy!

Eating while taking a pic with her BFF

Never take a camera into 1st grade.... Those kids are photo bombing hams!

See how one picture turned into a class photo session!

Couldn't even sneak a shot with my girl without a bomber jumping in haha!  Made me smile...

Well after school it was time for a par-Tay!  Well a family one- including my BFF and her family. As you can see from above, KK wasn't excited at all.

Yes, that's a tiara!  Thanks Oma ;)

After her requested pizza dinner, it was gift time.  She had lots of helpers but being such a good big sister, she took it in stride.

Her main gift - the thing she went on and on about for weeks: a rainbow loom!  For those without kids in grade school, it's a bracelet making kit that is a HOTT rage these days.

Knee high sparkle boots from Oma - she gasped in joy before pulling them on.  I want a pair for me!

Always loves clothes!

So glad our BFFs came to celebrate.  They were there seven years ago today, waiting in a hospital waiting room all night long (until midnight) to meet this little girl in person.  Love you guys!!!

Ok so this cake is not my favorite.  Another tradition I do is make a homemade cake that goes with the birthday theme.  This year, KK requested a DQ ice cream cake.  Well they had no Frozen cakes (well the cakes were frozen, I mean the movie Frozen).  So we went with the closest we could find.  It's not pretty but it was tasty!

Ready for cake!

Gotta have a family shot!

Everyone singing to our girl

Making a wish

Yes our brother is sitting there playing airplane during all this.  Long story but he required a small gift to make it through the evening... We were tired and didn't fight it.

Miss Kins was all about her Aunt Sam!  I had to pry her away and lure her with ice cream cake.

Mom just give me cake!

Ahhhh - the party was a success, the whole day was, and she got to play on her loom before going to bed!

Whew!  What a day!  But KK told us it was perfect, which us all I needed to hear.

Sweet dreams to our little seven year old!  Watching your joy in learning at school, in playing at home, in life itself is a gift. We cannot wait to see what this next year brings for you.
